So, I have 9 days left in the Creek and have lots to do to get ready for school. It is strange to think that very soon I will be in a completely different place and my life as I know it will be my past. I have been doing a fair amount of shopping, but the actual packing leaves something to be desired. I did finish my third required reading (of 3), Everything is Illuminated, by Jonathan Safran Foer; it was rather hard to follow, so I am planning on watching the movie before next weekend.
Everything is Illuminated was for the Honors College, but another of Foer's books, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, was the common read for all Michigan State freshmen.
It was about a young boy whose father was in the Twin Towers on 9/11. It was a very good book and quick read; I highly recommend it. There are a couple different book discussions and lectures that I have to attend surrounding the content of these books, so hopefully those will be interesting.
Tonight, I attended the Vibe @ 5 concert at Friendship Park in downtown Battle Creek. Vibe @ 5 is an initiative by the Downtown Partnership that is trying to make downtown Battle Creek a livelier and more upbeat place to be. The band that was playing to night was Big Dudee Roo and played lots of original songs. They were quite good. Madeline, Caroline, Patricia, and I brought an assortment of snacks and treats to enjoy while we listened to the band perform. It was a perfect night for the concert-not too hot, a slight breeze, and very few bugs. There is one more Vibe @ 5 concert-next Friday. Check it out!

Love the Vibe shout-out! Also, glad to hear you liked Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close - I really want to read (I think they are making a movie out of it too).
